Technologies & Companies
Angelwest Capital Corp (name to be changed to GREENANGEL ENERGY CORP)
is a Green Energy Investment Company that trades on the TSX Venture Stock
Exchange under the symbol AWC.P.
Angelwest expects to make the transition from being a capital pool company
to a regular listed company after the completing of its qualifying
transaction in July, 2009. The Company expects trading to resume in
September, 2009 under the name, Greenangel Energy Corp and symbol GRN.
The Company invests in emerging ventures that focus on the production of
energy (or energy efficiency improvements) using renewable energy renewable
resources such as water, wind and solar. These firms develop, deploy or
manage technologies that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Angelwest provides management services, support and financial assistance
(direct investment and raising capital) to young companies with a view to
obtaining equity positions that can be liquidated through acquisitions or
public trading as these ventures mature.
The portfolio approach gives investors a vehicle through which they can
invest in young companies that address opportunities in green energy. By
investing at the very early stages of development when company valuations
are relatively low, it is possible for investors to achieve substantial
gains.
Why Green Energy?
Concerns about GHG emissions and global warming coupled with the fact that
oil reserves and other non-renewable resources are being rapidly depleted
are driving innovation in what is likely to be one of the hottest sectors of
the economy in the current decade.
Thomas Freidman, author of "Hot, Flat & Crowded" talks about the fuels from
Hell: oil, natural gas, coal and the fuels from Heaven: hydropower, wind,
solar, geothermal, wave, etc.
Jeff Rubin (ex-chief economist at CIBC), in his latest book, "Why your World
is About to get a whole lot Smaller" says that oil demand - not the subprime
crisis - is the cause (not effect) of the current recession by driving
prices up to unaffordable levels, thereby stalling
the economy.
In the 80's, we saw the emergence of desktop computers and software and
their absorption into everyday life. In the 90's the internet emerged as the
next great leap in technological adoption. Now, in the 00's, "green"
technologies will be the next frontier for investors and entrepreneurs.
